When it comes to good-quality exterior lighting, wall pack lights are an integral part of the outdoor lighting system. The premise owners get the desired safety and security due to the presence of wall packs. In addition, LED wall packs work as a perfect deterrent against unwanted intrusion and burglars.

With the advent of technology, traditional light fixtures have become a talk of the past and LED lights have replaced the conventional incandescent and metal halides. As a result, the property owner gains unmatched savings and power-efficient when switching to a commercial LED wall pack light. In addition, the light distribution is done in the out and down beams.

Conversion of traditional lights to LED wall packs

First of all, determine the best-LED wall pack available to replace the incompetent HID (high-intensity discharge) MH (metal halides)

LED wall packs are more sophisticated and energy-efficient compared to conventional lighting mediums. However, there is a watt-to-watt difference between LED and HID fixtures.

LED fixtures deliver optimum performance while conventional mediums take time to switch on and lose their lumen capacity due to continuous usage.

Determine the mean lumen (lamp’s average lumen output over the lifetime) of the traditional medium. You can get this information from the manufacturers.

Once you know the mean lumens, you need to adjust the numbers for visibility. Visual perception is broken into two parts - photopic and scotopic. Photopic vision occurs when higher light levels and scotopic occurs at lower light levels.  Why is this important? Most consumers say that LED lights are bright. Due to our eye structure, we assume that the colors blue and white are more dominant than the traditional lights. However, LED lights to come in different color temperatures, which creates confusion between photopic and scotopic vision.

Luminaire efficacy is the efficiency of the light fixture to distribute brightness. The manufacturers calculate the efficiency of HID fixtures by dividing the emitting lumens by the lamp lumens. The house style affects the efficiency of the LED wall packs.

Benefits of LED wall packs

Minimum maintenance cost - The LED fixtures can operate continuously for more than 50,000 hours and do not require regular maintenance.

Minimum energy utilization - LED fixtures require less electricity compared to traditional fixtures. For example, the LED wall packs need 25 to 50% less energy than HID and metal halides.

Sensor orientation - Many wall packs come with integrated photocell sensors to automatically turn the lights on and off according to the night and day rotation. This function also saves your annual budget and reduces wastage of energy.
